Imphal, July 21 2013:
Rebutting the statement of SP Thoubal published in today's newspapers that the bloodshed at Sora on July 18 was between the people of Sora and T Minou Village, Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) has condemn- ed it saying that such provocative statement would ignite conflict between the two communities.
In its press release, MUA recalled and stressed that a confrontation between the police team led by A Gha-nashyam, SDPO Kakching and Sora people at 8 pm of July 18 led to the demise Niza Muddin (12) after being fired upon and injured 8 others.
Md Najim, Convenor of the JAC formed in connection with the killing had stated through media that the bloodshed was caused due to police firing.
A public meeting held at Sora on July 19 has also informed about the incident that the clash/firing was not between the people of Sora and Laiching Minou, and village authority of L Minou too informed the same through the media that people of Sora never entered their village that night, the release added.
It then appealed the SP Thoubal not to behave indiscriminately in bringing out the guilty person.
The Government is also appealed to apprehend the killer of Dk Moshilpha sooner and those responsible for the July 18 incident, otherwise MUA with the support of CSOs will launch agitations.
