Imphal, June 21 2011:
Out of 134 students of Sainik School, Pangei who cleared the Class-X exam this year, the school authority has disallowed 72 students for further study in Class-XI based on their moral character.
The move of the school authority was strongly flayed by the parents today.
Briefing media persons at Manipur Press Club, M Prafullo, representing parents of the 72 students, informed that their children were objected from admission to Class-XI by the school authority on the charge of drinking, ragging and indulging in eve teasing.
The school authority has levelled the charges only to cover up their own misdeeds, Prafullo said, citing that the school's students could stay in their homes for about two months in a year.
The students who got admission to Sainik School were selected on the basis of a written test so how could a student who passed in the admission exam be rejected from getting admission to the next class, he asked.
The prevention of 72 students from getting admission to the next class has disappointed the parents who have spent a huge amount of money on their education.
The decision of the school authority is a great blow to the future careers of the students, he added.
He further said if the school authority is going to select only 66 students every year for studies in Class-XI, then Sainik School will be like a private school running for profit, he added.
If the school authority fails to review its decision of disallowing the 72 students admission to Class-XI, the parents will go to court and seek justice, Prafullo said.
