Leaders discuss public health and sanitation at half-day seminar

CCpur, January 21 2023: Noted public figures from Lamka/Churachandpur town today discussed roadmaps for improving public health and sanitation at Churachandpur town during a half-day Seminar held at Central Auditorium, Gospel Centenary Hall, New Lamka.

The half-day seminar organised by Vision Lamka was attended by V Vualnam, Additional Chief Secretary; former CMO, Dr VC Pau Tonsing; Deputy Commissioner Pherzawl, Haulianlal Guite; former Director RIMS and ZMC Falkawn, Dr L Fimate; Col (retired) NG Sitlhou; and (retired) IDAS officer, N Neihsial among others.

During the seminar, Dr VC Pau Tonsing presented the medical services perspective of public health and sanitation in Lamka Town while V Vualnam delivered the keynote address.

Haulianlal Guite spoke on "Perspective of public policy" and Dr L Fimate elaborated on "Road maps for a sustainable sanitation and services".

Vumlunmang Vualnam shared that the responsibility to maintain public health and sanitation is not just for the Government, the responsibilities also rest on the citizens equally.

"The dwellers of any human settlement are the waste generator, as such citizens must accept responsibility before the thought of passing that responsibility to anyone", he added.

"It therefore needs a concerted effort of all stakeholders to have proper sanitation anywhere", said V Vualnam while adding that consciousness of the masses and social discipline will also have a pivotal role to play.

"We need to develop the concept of wellness and be agreeable to alter our timetable, social and food habits to seek health," he asserted.

It may be mentioned that Vision Lamka is a registered society formed by noted public figures from Lamka town - retired and serving.

Vision Lamka had previously organised a seminar on the topic, "Self Sustaining Urban Settlement" in 2019 and a green seminar on the theme "Building a Green City on the Green Hills" in 2021 with the support of PCCF & HCCF, Government of Manipur.

The seminar began at 10.30 AM and concluded at 2 in the afternoon.
