Imphal, December 20, 2013: A residential house and property worth around Rs 3 lakh, including Rs 1.15 lakh in cash, were destroyed by a fire at Kambang Khullel village under Tengnoupal Police Station in Chandel district yesterday.

The inferno which broke out at around 1 pm reduced the house of one Ch Modun Maring s/o Ch Konai Maring of Kambang Khullen to ashes.

The properties which were destroyed in the fire included 200 tins of paddy, 300 cubics of wooden planks, Rs 1.15 in cash and license gun (SBBL) among others.

According to the house owner, the incident happened when most of the villagers, except some children, went out for their respective works.

An FIR was filed at Tengnoupal Police Station in connection with the incident.
