AMCTA resolves

The All Manipur College Teachers Association (AMCTA) has convened a virtual executive committee meeting of the association yesterday and resolved to pursue the Government for redressing the remaining issues as listed in their 10 point charter of demands.
The virtual meeting which began at 3 pm was presided by association president M Lokendro Singh and attended by large number of representatives of different colleges from both hill and valley districts, a press release of AMCTA said.
While addressing the meeting, M Lokendro Singh had extended gratitude to the Chief Minister & Education Minister of Manipur for their prompt actions to realize the commitments and congratulated the Government of Manipur for issuing the orders for implementation of 7th UGC Pay scales and Regulations 2018 timely in the tune of the MoU dated March 6, 2021 and signed between the Government and AMCTA along with other stake holders, it said.
He also appreciated the teachers for their cooperation and supports to the AMCTA struggles for fulfilment of the demand maintaining the maturity with patience, the release continued.
The remaining issues from the AMCTA's 10 point charter of demands after fulfilment of two major demands: Pay Revision and Placement of Assistant Professors in their higher grades (now pending for few teachers) were discussed, it said.
The meeting also recalled an understanding reached between the Government and AMCTA during the meeting held on September 26, 2019 in presence of the then Minister to resolve all the issues on priority manner just after the demand No 1 (UGC Pay) is fulfilled.
Accordingly, AMCTA decided to pursue the Government for redressing the remaining issues on priority basis, it said.
In addition to the remaining issues from 10-point charter of demands, the executive committee also decided to urge the authorities concerned for issuing the required orders for those teachers who had already submitted their applications for correction of their MGELs at the earliest as top priority so that the salaries of the incumbents may be released without any hindrance, the release added.
