Skill development training begins

A one month skill development programme on preservation and processing of fruits and vegetables was inaugurated today at the Manipur Press Club.
The training programme is organised by Self Employment Voluntary Association, Manipur (SEVA) under the sponsorship of National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), RO Imphal.
Speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, Officer In-charge of NABARD, RO Imphal, SV Nemlekar underscored the need to preserve the bountiful fruit and vegetables produces of the State.
The training programme would be held at the office of SEVA, North Babupara.
Around 30 women from Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur districts have registered for participation.
Speaking at the function as the president, General Manager of Manipur State Cooperative Bank, K Indramani noted that the training would imbibe mechanism on how to store fruits and vegetables.
It would also impart them on how to extract juice from fruits in order to earn extra income from doing that.
He noted that fruits from Moreh or Myanmar are in high demand in the State.
The market occupied by these imported fruits could be replaced by local ones if necessary and due attention is paid.
He urged the beneficiaries to participate in the training sincerely.
The inaugural function was also attended by M Tonjao, Master Trainer, Fruit and Vegetables Technologist, N Okel, Project Executive, RGVNDST Imphal and President of EEMA Radhapriyari.
