Imphal, January 20 2020:
The proscribed PREPAK(Pro) has lambasted Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan for his assertion that all the social ills plaguing the State are on account of parents' failure to discipline their children properly.
A statement issued by the outfit's PREPAK (Pro) assistant publicity secretary Th Eshingchaoba remarked that the MP's statement was quite illogical.
The outfit accused the MP of giving a wrong date of the merger of Manipur into the Indian Union while speaking in the Parliament.
Dr Ranjan said that Manipur was merged into the Indian Union on October 15, 1950, the outfit noted and added that such a man has no right to teach people about the social ills and problems.
The idea of blaming drug users/abusers instead of checking smuggling of intoxicating drugs into the State is totally misplaced, it said.
Everybody has a fair idea about who are behind the drug trades and where the drugs are sold.
By blaming parents for drugs abuse and other social ills, Dr Ranjan only exposed himself as a supporter of the wrong policies of the Government, the outfit remarked.
Pointing out that even many well educated youth took to drugs on account of different circumstances and situations, the outfit asked how long parents could keep a watch on their grown up children.
It was the failure of the Government to protect the indigenous people from the onslaught of incessant influx which brought students to the streets.
It is rather absurd and outrageous if one is saying that the students' protest movements aimed at securing the collective future of the State are influenced, motivated or instigated by parents, the outfit continued.
If the MP was saying that insurgency took birth on account of parents' failure to discipline and groom their children properly, it can be safely assumed that the particular statement stemmed from the pain inflicted upon the MP in the past for his involvement in corrupt practices, the outfit alleged.
It then advised all elected representatives like Dr Ranjan to speak in public only after understanding the history of the land and their own duties.
