Governor greets on occasion of Statehood Day

Imphal, January 20 2013 :
Governor Gurbachan Jagat has extended greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Statehood Day to be celebrated on January 21 .
In his message, the Governor said, after attaining Statehood, Manipur's plan size was increased and efforts have been made to make Manipur a developed State.
However, Manipur is still lagging behind in many spheres of development and hence there is need to hasten up the progress of development and growth, he added.

Gurbachan Jagat said, "The benefits of development should be made available to all citizens irrespective of community, caste, creed, language and religion" .
Efforts must be made to make Manipur an egalitarian society, which would bring peace and prosperity, he added.
The Governor also expressed hope that Manipur with its rich human potential would rise above all parochial interests and work unitedly to become a more prosperous State.
