Students including two girls assaulted

Four boarders of Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) Hostel were allegedly brutally assaulted by a group of 7/8 persons, who identified themselves as sports persons, today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Speaking to reporters at MBC premises located at Chingmeirong, the assault victims - two girls and two boys, said they were brutally assaulted by some persons who claimed themselves to be sports persons inside Khuman Lampak Sports Complex today at around 2.30 pm.
One of the girl students is a Class XII student and the other is a Class XI student.
One of the boys is a Class VIII student while the other is a Class VII student.
Today is outing day for the hostellers.
The two girls reportedly took the boys along with them to drop their friends.
They were whiling away at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium taking photographs with their mobile phones after dropping their friends, they said.
A group of 7/8 persons dressed in track suits came and asked them where they were from.
The men began to assault them after the hostellers told them they are from a hill district.
Besides assaulting them physically, the men also insulted the girls and charged them that they are commercial sex workers.
The men also took photographs of the four hostellers after forcing them to embrace each other.
The hostellers were also made to sign on a blank paper.
They were detained till 3.30 pm.
Due to the alleged detention, the two girl students missed their tuition class, they said.
Meanwhile, secretary of MBC Women Dept, Lhingboi Kipgen strongly decried the incident.
She said all the four hostellers are obedient.
She urged the authority concerned to seriously look into the matter and punish the culprits at the earliest.
Strongly condemning the incident, general secretary of KSO Imphal branch, Shon Baite said that the students' body will not remain silent on the matter if the authority concerned fails to act on the matter immediately.
