Imphal, September 18 2013:
With the inauguration of its information office at New Lambulane, Imphal on Sept 16, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) inducted two new members namely Lamcha Chongloi and Hrilsangmawi Hmar as its Assembly Secretary and Deputy Speaker respectively.
The formal office inauguration and consecration service were ministered by ATSUM founder president Dr Donald Kosha and Rev Helkholam, Pastor of KBC CC, New Lambulane, informed a statement issued by ATSUM president, Emboi Serto.
The statement recalled that ATSUM which was founded on Dec 16, 1973 was a conventional forum of learned and enlightened youths to stake claim the rights and constitutional safeguards assured as a tribal in the Union Constitution in this part of the State.
Notwithstanding those manipulative skills of the Govt of the day, it has been an endeavour to secure just and equity in Manipur's society in a manner best fitted for all and sundry.
Conversely, ATSUM also clarified that some unscrupulous elements under the name and style of ATSUM through Newmai News Network are lambasting the outer Manipur MP, Thangso Baite as lethargic for the tribals not bothering the interest of the tribal as a whole.
This amounts to purely political and character assassination of the MP.
The question of dictating terms and conditions to the MP from this office does not arise, the ATSUM said.
Therefore, any sort of script/write-ups other than the formal authorisation of this office letter head in any sphere may be ignored hereafter, it added.
