Electricity consumers' awareness programme held at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, June 18 2018:
The first ever electricity consumer's awareness programme was successfully conducted today at Kangpokpi DHQs and various important power related issues were deliberated at length with the participation of JERC (M&M), MANIREDA and MSPDCL officials.
The one day electricity consumer's awareness programme was organised by MSPDCL Kangpokpi with an aim to bridge the communication between the department and the consumers.
It also aimed at enlightening the consumers on various power related issues and problems.
Electricity supply code and consumer grievances redressal regulations, standard of performances, power availability and sale of energy in Manipur including T&R loss, ongoing proposal and projects on generation and transmission lines in Manipur, ongoing works and projects of renewable energy sources and its impact on RPO of MSPDCL were stressed during the programme.
In the interactive session, shortage of man power in MSPDCL came to the light rendering tremendous hardships in the functioning of the company in addressing the grievances of the consumers.
During the session, the consumers and leaders of the CSOs put pressure upon the concerned department for early recruitment of adequate staffs in the larger interest of the general public.
The department has got the maximum support and cooperation from the local populace of Kangpokpi District, said the authorities of the department and stated that similar support and cooperation are not witness elsewhere in the entire State.
The department will extend all possible helps to the people of Kangpokpi, assured the department.
"In a month the company spend about 32-35 crore and in return we receive just 17 crore as revenue," said General Manager, MPSDCL, Benjamin Lalneisang Saiate while addressing the public and urged the consumers to co-operate and pay their bills on time for smoother and more consistent power supply.
Revenue collection in Kanpokpi is good and commendable, he said.
Representatives of Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (Manipur and Mizoram) including Er Ngangom Sarat Singh, Chairperson, Richard Zothankima, Asst Secretary, Er Lalchharliana, Chief Engineer, Er H Thangthianga, Asst Chief Engineer attended the occasion as presidium members.
MSPDCL representatives including Benjamin Lalneisang Saiate, General Manager, Thanglalsam, Manager Kangpokpi, Janggougin Khongthang, Manager Commercial, Binoy, Manager Leimakhong and Lucy Touthang, i/c Manager, Saikul and leaders of various CSOs including Twilang area (IT Road) representatives and electricity consumers from within Kangpokpi DHQs participated in the awareness programme.
