Imphal, January 18 2022: A premier show of 'Goura Leela' was held at Lairen Sajik community hall yesterday organised by Caitnya Institute of Sankirtana (CIS), a performing centre for Manipuri Arts and Culture, Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai.

The event was graced by Keisham Sohodeba Singh, Zilla Parishad Member, 8-Mayanglangjing, Prabhu Ajit Das, Chairman, Ranganiketan and Irengbam Shyamchand Singh, cultural activist as the presidium members.

Speaking in connection with the event, Secretary, Caitnya Institute of Sankirtana, Takhellambam Naotomba said that the show has been staged with an aim to enlighten the youths of today about 'Goura Leela' which is among the dying art forms of the State.

With an aim to spread awareness among the masses that Manipur has a unique art form like Goura Leela, the show has been held today, he added.

Stating that the art form was introduced during the reign of Maharaj Chandrakirti, he said that many useful practices and ideas are incorporated in this art form which will be beneficial to all sections of the society.
