Contractors close PWD office at Churachandpur

Lamka, December 17 2013: With the deadline set by Churachandpur Contractors Association for clearance of their SPA/SCA pending bills expiring on Sunday, the association has locked the district PWD office beginning today with a threat to intensify their stir if the Government still ignores their demands.

The association members locked the PWD office here today around 3pm, when some of the staff are still inside.

They have been demanding the release of pending bills for the SPA/SCA works taken up during the year 2011-12, which amounts to more than 10 crore.

'The SPA works are supposed to be one-time payment, but the department has held back 50 percent of the bill for reason best known to them and they continue to withhold the same till date despite having cleared the bill for the superseding year 2012-13,' said the association secretary Paolal.

The contractors have threatened to further intensify their stir if they feel that the Government is not responding by Christmas.
