Imphal, May 17 2020:
Sagolband Assembly AC MLA RK Imo has suggested that making stranded Manipuris who want to return home carry COVID-19 negative certificate compulsorily will help in checking the transmission of a novel coronavirus from different States.
Expressing concern over the abrupt changes of COVID status of the State with the finding of 5 active cases recently, the MLA appealed to the State Government to compulsorily test all evacuees before sending into the community quarantine centre.
RK Imo also opined that people who want to donate relief materials, as well as those who are deployed at quarantine centres, should undergo COVID-19 test phase by phase to effectively combat the pandemic.
Claiming that most of the community quarantine centres are run by the MLAs concerned without much help from the District Administrations or Health Department, the Sagolband AC MLA urged the State Government to provide PPE kits to such centres through DAs or Department concerned.
Many of such centres are also facing a shortage of water, the MLA pointed out and urged the State Government to provide sufficient water to these centres for daily usage.
