Senapati, February 17 2025:
Residents of Senapati District Headquarter are increasingly concerned and alarmed as cases of theft and robbery continue to rise each day.
In recent weeks, numerous incidents have been reported, with criminals targeting homes, vehicles, and personal belongings.
These crimes often occur during daylight hours when residents are away at work or late at night when households are asleep, causing fear and frustration among the local population.
At Church Road Colony, DHQ thieves attempted to break into a residence through the ground floor but failed.
They then accessed the first floor and stole approximately Rs 5 lakh in cash.
The homeowner, who was away at the time, returned to find their property ransacked.
According to a report, intruders broke into a house located near Senapati bridge and stole around Rs 7,000 from a briefcase.
CCTV footage captured the thief entering the home.
The victim, a local businessman, expressed shock at the boldness of the crime.
However, the culprits are scot free till today.
In another incident which happened behind the Artificial Football turf Stadium Gallery, an attempted autorickshaw theft was reported.
At Christian Colony, a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle with registration number MN-01AM-3409 was stolen, adding to the rising number of vehicle thefts in the area.
The incident was instantly alerted in social media but there is no breakthrough of the case till the filing of the report.
At an overbridge located in the middle of the Senapati DHQ town, thieves broke into a residence through the back door during the night and stole some cash.
The family, who were asleep at the time, discovered the theft the next morning.
The recent surge in crimes suggests that both individuals and organized gangs may be involved.
Many incidents occurred when residents were away or asleep, making private homes in DHQ particularly vulnerable.
The perpetrators appear to be well-coordinated, often targeting properties with minimal security measures.
Hence the need to install CCTVs in main town areas and important localities has been flagged in many social media groups.
