Johnstone students to boycott R-Day

Students of Johnstone Higher Secondary School (JHSS) have announced that they will boycott the coming Republic Day celebration in the State as protest against the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by the Lok Sabha.
Speaking to media persons at the school campus today, JHSS Students' Union secretary general Ningthoukhongjam Nobinchandra announced that the protest/boycott will be relaxed only if the Bill is revoked before January 26.The JHSS Students Union took the decision to boycott the Republic Day celebration in the interest of Manipur, he added.
After intense agitation and the loss of Robinhood, Manipur People Bill 2018 was passed by Manipur State Assembly, he said adding that the people of Manipur will never accept the CAB 2016 while the State' Bill for the protection of the indigenous people have beer^ neglected completely.
The claims that CAB will not affect Manipur are all false and empty promises and assurances, he added.
