Kamjong, October 16 2018:
Citing 'gross negligence' of the authorities concerned, the Joint Action Committee for Implementation of PMGSY Road Blacktopping Works (DC Phase) has expressed deep concern over the 'dilapidated' road from Lambui to Hongbei, Kamjong district.
Alleging that the authorities concerned have failed to look after the 'prolong negligence' of the contractors, the JAC's convenor Sword Mahung said the JAC is disappointed with the 'indifferent attitude' of the authorities concerned.
The work order for blacktopping from Lambui to Hongbei under PMGSY was issued in the year 2014 and the work completion was due in September 2016.Lambui to Hongbei is a 58 kms stretch and covers eleven villages - Shokvao, Lungphu, Shingta, Marao, Shingkap, Tangkhul Hungdung, Greatland, Itham, Bohoram and Zingsho, said a statement of the JAC today.
The road was divided into six portions under 6 contractors.
Due to 'gross negligence', even the shingling is yet to be completed in many portions.
Layer of gravelling and bituminous at many portions have worn out and broken as they were done 'without sufficient required materials and machineries', said the JAC.
The JAC have approached the contractors and department concerned through various channels demanding their attention to the lack of progress in the said works.
However, they (contractors/department) have been blaming the rainy season for the delay for the last three years, alleged the JAC.
The JAC further alleged that the department concerned has released bill without proper investigation of the works on ground.
Condemning the authorities and the work style, the JAC said that it will fight 'tooth and nail' for completion of the works and appealed all stakeholders and public to lend their support to the JAC in their demands.
Saying that the people of the area have lost their patience after waiting 'so long' the JAC urged the State Government for immediate intervention and necessary prompt actions to expedite the work progress.
The JAC will consider endorsing agitations with CSOs if the Government fails to take positive actions, said the statement and warned all contractors concerned to resume their works with sufficient labours and machineries from (or before) October 25.The contractors will not be allowed to work from Oct 26, if they fail to resume works by October 25, said the JAC.
