Imphal, July 16 2024: KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) has clarified that the five persons who were arrested by police as reported in media on Tuesday are its cadres who were sent by the party to pull up one drug dealer.

According to a press release issued by the outfit's publicity secretary Kanglei Purel, Konsam Rohit, Yanglem Bikash Meitei, Thangjam Chanba, Moirangthem Anand and Keisham Nelson were sent by the party to pull up and reprimand one Phundreimayum Ziaodin of Lilong Turel Ahanbi for allegedly dealing in heroin (No 4) and WY tablets in association with illegal immigrants.

The particular individual was never asked to make any monetary donation to the party and the comrades were unarmed when they went to pull up Ziaodin, it said.

The claim made by police that some country made pistols were recovered from their possession was a blatant lie, it added.
