Stating that it is mandatory for all shops to be registered, MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar has announced that prompt actions will be taken against any structure located in the area covered by Imphal Municipal Corporation which did not get necessary approval as well as shops which do not have fire extinguishers, dustbins and are not a part of the door to door waste collection process.
Speaking to media persons at his residential quarters today, Shyamkumar said that with the suspension of the IM, a new administration has taken over and IMC has started functioning under the said new administration from today.
Joint Secretary, MAHUD, Ksh Lemba Singh has been appointed as the Administrator and MAHUD has issued a notification regarding the same as well, the Minister added.Shyamkumar continued that emphasis will be given to the enforcement of the announcement made by MAHUD in the past regarding the necessity of the structures and buildings located inside the area covered by IMC to get necessary building construction approval.
Necessary action will be taken up if any of the buildings are found lacking this approval, he cautioned.
MAHUD will also start enforcing the need for shops to have a fire extinguisher on hand to prevent any kind of fire outbreak.
No vendor can set up shop in the empty spaces between two shops and no drainage can be filled or covered without any approval from the authority, he said, adding that MAHUD will also take steps to ensure strict payment of taxes by the shops so as to generate revenue for the Government.
Shyamkumar continued that if any of the shops or business establishments located under IMC, is found abstaining from the door to door waste collection, strict legal actions will be taken up.
Shops without license and shops set up without approval from IMC, will be banned immediately, he said and urged all those concerned to register their shops with the IMC officials concerned within 3 days so as to avoid any such legal action.
Shyamkumar continued that shops which are not registered will be banned immediately under the Municipality Act and added that all theses steps are measures to keep the area under IMC neat and clean.
Appealing all the shops located at Lamphel, Singjamei, Checkon, Kwakeithel and Khongnang Ani Karak to register officially, the Minister also urged all the small businesses and shops present in the localities to register as well.
On the other hand, Shyamkumar continued that MAHUD will take up steps to improve the drainage system in the areas covered by IMC.
MAHUD will also look into the rampant issue of giving parking spaces on any available area, he added.
IMC officials and police personnel were also present in the meet.
