WTR disposes banned cough syrup

Ukhrul, February 16 2025: The policing cell of Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), Ukhrul on Sunday disposed of the banned cough syrup worth Rs 7.5 lakh at WTR office Harkuikathe, Ukhrul.

Rtd Capt Samson Jajo, Central Administrative Officer (CAO) WTR Tangkhul region stated that a team of WTR policing cells conducted routine searches in the town.

The team of WTR seized cough syrup from a pharmacy, and based on his input, the main supplier was able to apprehend them on Friday.

The consignment was transported from Dimapur to Ukhrul.

Altogether 1500 bottles of banned cough syrup Triroz-c, Dialex-DC, Cadifos-T, COF-Trex including Cyclotas tablets and 50 grams of opium were confiscated today.

The cough syrup contains high codeine, Phosphate, Triprolidine Hydrochloride and is being sold at Rs 500 at the black market in Ukhrul town.

The WTR Office appealed to the public for their cooperation in their ongoing drive to combat the use of drugs and contraband items in the Wung Tangkhul region.

CAO, WTR fined the arrested persons and made them sign undertakings before office to abide by the order of WTR, Ukhrul not to repeat the same illegal business.
