Imphal, September 15 2018:
Demanding solution of the issues plaguing Tamenglong ADC at present, the Tamenglong and Longmai Districts Citizens Welfare Forum has announced total shut down along NH 37, ban on all National projects being implement in the two districts for two days and indefinite closure of the Tamenglong ADC office.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the forum's information secretary Apolouse Panmei said that the Government should rectify all the anomalies plaguing the Tamenglong ADC and bring a solution at the earliest.
If the demand is not fulfilled urgently, a total shut down on NH 37 and ban on all National projects will be imposed with effect from September 18 midnight till September 20 midnight.
Moreover, ADC office will be sealed indefinitely with effect from September 18 midnight, Apolouse Panmei said.
Allowing a minority to run the affairs of the ADC is a gross violation of the Constitution and the principles of democracy, he said.
A no confidence motion taken up at the direction of the Government on May 25 this year was invalidated by another Government order issued on September 13 and this is unacceptable to the forum, Apolouse Panmei said.
Another order issued by the Government lifted the ban on all financial transactions relating to implementation of development schemes/programmes in respect of Tamenglong ADC and this is in violation of the District Council Act, he decried.
All these matters would be apprised to the Chief Minister in the form of a memorandum, he added.
