Imphal, April 15 2018: 11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive in S Moljol village on 14 April 2018.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign by the Government of India to keep the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country including towns and rural areas clean.

The villagers were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and were also motivated to keep their village clean.

Villagers and Assam Rifles personnel both did combined efforts to make the village area clean and spread awareness amongst the locals.

The villagers were briefed regarding waste disposal and they were also encouraged to make less use of polythenes to preserve the environment.

They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should regularly be cleaned/ regulated.

The villagers were also encouraged to make use of toilets for keeping the atmosphere clean.

The event was dedicated to the ongoing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'; an initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendara Modi which is being encouraged as a movement in various parts of the country.

Assam Rifles has been promoting 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' initiative in remote areas of North East as well.
