Tamenglong and Chandel celebrate Lui-Ngai-Ni

Tamenglong/Chandel, February 15 2022:
The Naga seed sowing festival popularly called the Lui-Ngai-Ni was celebrated at Tamenglong and Chandel districts today.
The festival in Tamenglong was organised by the Joint Tribes' Council (JTC) a conglomerate body of Inpui, Liangmai, Ronngmei and Zeme tribes and it saw song presentations from UBC Youth Choir, famous band The Waker and Achatnis Dichongta, winner of The Voice.
As election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly is nearing, contesting candidates are given platform to speak out their vision and campaign during the program.
Two candidates namely, Huri Golmei sponsored by the ruling BJP and Khangthuanang Panmei former Vice Chairman of HAC/MLA contesting with the NPF ticket participated in the talk.
Moreover, different speakers speak in length about the ongoing Indo- Naga political dialogue.
A special prayer for bountiful harvest for the year was conducted where Rev NH Adui General Secretary ZBCCNEI, Rev Aluanna Gonmei Pastor ZBC and Rev Ch Widabou Pastor of UBC partaken.
Presidents of Inpui Naga Union, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur and Zeme Naga Council Manipur shared the dias.
Lui-Ngai-Ni 2022 was also slated to be celebrated as a State level event at Chandel but had to be cancelled due to the pandemic however Chandel Naga Peoples' Organisation organised the festival under the theme 'Our culture, Our journey' at District Sports Complex, Chandel.
The celebration at Chandel was also attended by Padmashree Guru Rewben Mashangva, leaders of CNPO, NSUC, Naga Women Organisation, village chiefs and religious leaders as well.
Guru Rewben inaugurated the celebration by hoisting the flag.
