Award presentation / felicitation programme held

Imphal, January 15 2022: Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Manipur presented National and International awards to renowned individuals of the State today in an award presentation cum felicitation programme held at Manipur Press Club today.

The programme was graced by Wangkhemcha Shyamjai, president, All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Tekcham Rameshwar, president of Dalit Sahitya Akademi Manipur, Yumnam Mahendrakumar, National General Secretary, Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi and Dr Savitri Devi, social activist as the presidium members.

The recipients of International Award-2021 include Md Abdul Latif (Zilla Parishad Member), Thoubal Moijing, Golmei Roy Kabui (Pradhan, Hiyangthang Gram Panchayat), Social and Cultural activist SK Apanba, Rakesh Naorem, Mutum Maniton, Ngouba Thouna, Nongmaithem Shanta, Laishram Babu Meitei, Khangembam Rajeshwari (Dance & Music), Dr Athokpam Umabati (Literature), Elangbam Parsuram (Meetei Pung), Sougaijam Bhaba Singh (Thang-Ta), Shamurailatpam Kunjabihari Sharma (Wari Liba), Maibam Loken (Astrology), Lairenjam Jotin (Meetei Eshei) among others.

While among the State and National awardees include renowned writer Mutum Ramani and Phanjoubam Lalajit.

Speaking on the occasion, Wangkhemcha Shyamjai said that the presentation of various awards by Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi will motivate the individuals of the State to work more enthusiastically and with dedication in their respective fields.

He further stressed on the need to acknowledge one's accomplishments and to support one another inorder to strive for a developed society.
