Imphal, November 14 2011:
If at all the fuss about the creation of a "Supra State Body" as offered by the Union government as a Christmas gift for the Nagas is a fact, then it will be regarded as a first step towards the creation of Greater Nagaland, exclaimed O Joy, Leader of MPP Legislature Wing.
Addressing media persons MLA O Joy said that though there is no official announcement on the creation of a "supra state body" for the Nagas, it has to be looked into thoroughly and discussed since it has come out in the media.
The ruling Congress party in the state should also dwell on it and have a discussion with the central government.
Blaming the Congress for the outcome of the issue, he said that it was only because the Congress had given the green signal for the Naga Integration Council to be merged into the Congress by signing an agreement on August 8, 1972.It was clearly stated in the agreement signed that "It is not anti national nor unconstitutional for the Nagas to unite under one administrative rule".
The very statement written and signed by the Congress has proved to be a factor in disintegrating Manipur into pieces.
He further charged the Congress of double standards.
On one hand the Congress leaders say that the territorial integrity of Manipur shall never be compromised, and on the other hand, the same party, at the time of the general election in Nagaland in 2008, came up with a manifesto wherein it was clearly stated that "Naga inhabited areas can be united under a single administration", he said.
He further went on to say that that we should all be very clear here that the creation of a "Supra State body" for the Nagas is a formative stage for the destruction of the territorial integrity of Manipur and an initial step for the creation of a Greater Nagaland.
The Congress leaders of Manipur should co ordinate with the Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and discuss the prevailing issue and come up with a specific strategy, or else Manipur is sure to go up in flames.
If at all the Union government has actually taken the decision to create a "Supra State body" for the Nagas, the state leaders need to make it clear to the Centre that it cannot be tolerated and approved at all.
Commenting on the ambush led out to Minister DD Thaisii, MLA O Joy said that the ambush could be the handy work of NSCN (IM).
The central government is still keeping mum on the issue, although everything is as clear as crystal.
Meanwhile, according to a press statement released by MPP if at all the news about the supra state is true, it will be the most unfortunate incident ever to happen so far and it will be a never ending issue instigated by the central government.
The statement further said that whether it is Nagaland, Nagalim or a Supra State, it has nothing to do with the state of Manipur and it cannot be brought in the area of Manipur.
P Chidambaram and RS Pande should be aware that Manipur is inhabited by people who were once independent.
The Front stated that the territorial integrity, boundary and the customs and traditions of the indigenous people is non-negotiable.
