Imphal, January 14 2013:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has said that the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) must immediately stop making arrangement for some students to appear in the HSLC examination through alleged wrongful registration.
The students' body also urged all groups of the State not to take up cudgels for BOSEM in this regard but to ask the Board authority to stop such malpractices.
In a press conference held at DESAM head office at Keishampat this afternoon, DESAM President WM Islauddin said, the student's body would stand against BOSEM's effort to make arrangement for some students to appear in the HSLC examination through alleged wrongful registration.
He added, in 2011, some authorities of BOSEM tried to allow around 4000 students to sit in HSLC examination without charging registration fees.
Taking advantage of the insistence of some UG groups, some authorities of BOSEM tried to allow mass registration to these 4000 students who did not register themselves in Class VIII .
A number of members of the Board protested against the effort of some vested interest authorities of the Board in different meetings of the Board and decided not to permit these students to sit in 2011 HSLC examination, he said.
However, in their continued effort, the Board authorities repeatedly convened meetings to allow these students to appear in this year's examination, Islauddin added.
DESAM would have lauded the Board authority if they tried to find out the culprits and took up measures to avoid such mess, he added.
WM Islauddin also urged the UG groups of the State not to threaten the Board members who stand for the right cause in this regard.
He also urged the UG groups to take up measures to avoid such malpractices.
Islauddin also drew attention of the Education Minister to find out the root cause on the issue of not getting the chance to sit in HSLC examination by a large number of students in 2011 .
