NSU row: KAJAC issues ultimatum

The Konsakhul Area Joint Action Committee (KAJAC) has issued an ultimatum against the State Government for the delaying tactics and indifferent attitude towards the indigenous hill people over the proposed construction of National Sports University (NSU).
In a release, KAJAC alleged that the State Government has failed to respond to the calls for a peaceful settlement by the committee.
In a bid to resolve the NSU impasse in a peaceful and democratic way, the committee had repeatedly conveyed its grievances through memorandum, representation, petitions, etc to the Government, it added.
"During the last meeting held on February 25, 2021 at Conference Hall (South Block), Secretariat, Imphal, chaired by Letpao Haokip, YAS Minister in the presence of Rajen Singh, Education Minister, Awangbow Newmai, Forest Minister, H Dingo Singh, MLA and Ngamthang Haokip, MLA, it was acknowledge that the proposed NSU site belongs to Konsaram (Konsakhul) village under erstwhile Senapati district", the committee claimed.
The committee continued that in the said meeting, it was also assured that a meeting would be convened by the Government to settle the NSU matter.
KAJAC mentioned that in view of the arising circumstances, the committee is compelled to issue an ultimatum to the Government to stop all kinds of construction activities at NSU project with immediate effect until NSU imbroglio is resolved amicably.
KAJAC further warned the Government of intensified form of agitation in case of failure to comply with the demands of the committee.
