Foul play alleged in death of housewife

Imphal, December 11 2017: The parents of a 24 year old housewife, who was found hung to death in her own bedroom last night have accused the husband of the deceased, as well as the mother in-law of killing the woman and staging a drama to cover up the crime .

According to a reliable source, the deceased has been identified as Longjam (o) Mirnalini (24) w/o L Rabichandra of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai .

The parents of the deceased claimed that yesterday, before the incident occured, Mirnalini had visited them along with her two year old child .

The incident of the alleged hanging occurred at around 10.30 pm and the victim had reportedly hung herself using a Khudei .

Mirnalini was rushed to the hospital but she was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital .

The victim's parents alleged that the mother in-law used to regularly torture and harass Mirnalini forcing her to return to their home regularly .

They claimed that her husband would then come after some time and take her away again .

The post mortem of the deceased woman was conducted at RIMS morgue in the presence of the Duty Magistrate, today, with full video coverage .

On the other hand, a heated argument erupted between the locals/ parents of the deceased and the in-laws, near RIMS morgue complex, when the in-laws tried to claim the body for performing the last rites .

Things took an ugly turn when the angry locals began pelting stones at the four wheeler vehicle in which the mother in-law left .

The locals demanded the authority concerned to arrest the husband as well as the mother in-law of the deceased and to take necessary actions according to the law of the land .

A case has been registered at Imphal police station regarding the incident.
