Imphal, December 11 2013:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has warned the Government that it will jointly launch different forms of intense agitation with students, teachers and local clubs if required number of teachers and necessary infrastructure are not provided to Ithai Khunou Government High School at the earliest.
Located at Ithai Khunou village in Bishnupur district, students of the school will make their maiden appearance in Class X examination from 2014 .
Volunteers of Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) conducted an inspection visit to the school for the second time within this year today.
Ithai Modern Civilization Club General Secretary and School Management Committee Convenor Khuraijam Chinglensana said that students of the school would appear for the first time in Matriculation examination in 2014.Apprehensive about poor performance due to teachers inadequacy and lack of infrastructure, the committee has engaged six private teachers to assist 11 Government teachers, including RMSA and SSA teachers, of the school.
The school which has classes from Class I to X has 545 students, the school Headmaster said.
He added that with the recent transfer of Manipuri teacher, the school now has no teacher for the subject, he said.
Regarding school infrastructure, Khuraijam Chinglensana said that while the co-educational school does not have proper toilet, computer equipments are gathering dust due to erratic power supply.
Although, the Government has provided books, the school library room has now turned into a godown as it has no furniture, he added.
MSF Vice-President RN Koireng said that today's visit was the second inspection visit to the school, and no change could be seen as compared to the first visit.
It was unfortunate that the School Management Committee was upset with the apprehension that the students of the school might not be able to get through Class X examination in their maiden appearance due to insufficient number of teachers and lack of infrastructure.
Saying that the Education Minister had promised the student's body to provide adequate number of teachers in the past, Koireng said that the student's body would launch different intense agitations if the Minister fails to translate his promise into action at the earliest.
