First woman PHD of Thadou Kuki community from IIS

Kangpokpi, April 11 2017:
Grace Lhaineikim Chongloi is the first among the Thadou-Kuki community who has been conferred Doctor of Philosophy from the faculty of Science of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Gracee (32) is the lone daughter of (L) Haokholun Chongloi and Deilhing Chongloi from Kangpokpi DHQs.
Grace Lhaineikim started her education from Mission High School and completed her graduation (BSc Zoology Honours) in Ist class from Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi in 2005 while she completed her Masters in Department of Zoology at the same University with Honors (I Class) in 2007 .

She pursued her PhD in Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, at Biological Science Building, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and completed her thesis titled, "Delineating the role of OsMADS1 in Auxin Distribution, Floret Identity and Floret Meristem Determinacy" under the guidance of Professor Usha Vijayraghavan in 2016, which conferred her Doctor of Philosophy.
She has been selected to pursue Post-Doctoral studies in Molecular Genetics at the Prestigious Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel where she will be working on "Rice Flower Development" for about 3-4 years with funding from the institution itself.
A grand felicitation was organized today at Kangpokpi Christian Church Hall to felicitate her and sought God's blessing for her further studies in Israel.
Chairman ADC Sadar Hills, Haokholal Hangshing and Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district president Seikhomang Khongsai attended as dignitaries while Rev J Lunkim, Town Churches Fellowship chairman attended as the Blessing Minister.
Kangpokpi Youth Union, Chong-Hang Youth Union, KCU, KCK, KCN apart from Grace Lhaineikim Chongloi's relatives, friends and family members also attended the function.
