TRAU felicitates Minister, MLAs

Imphal, June 10 2012: Minister for Industries, Sericulture, and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Govindas Konthoujam and other MLAs including L Ibomcha, RK Anand and RK Imo were felicitated by Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) at its complex at Kwakeithel today.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that among other various clubs in the state which are working for development of sports, TRAU has always played a pivotal role.

The club has produced a number of great football players from the state.

Nonetheless to being about further development in the field of sports, we all need to come together and work as one towards the desired goal.

The Minister pointed out that since Manipur is bordering with Myanmar, various sorts of drugs are being smuggled into the state.

Under such situations, the youths of the state can be easily swept away.

So, we need to occupy the minds of the youths in games and sports to keep them away from drugs.

MLA L Ibomcha observed that it would be of great help to the clubs and associations if the state government helps them financially in grooming good sportspersons since it requires a lot of financial involvement in bringing out good sportspersons.

MLA RK Anand noted the need for setting up of a playground for TRAU and said if we are to groom sportspersons we also need to build good playground for the players.

MLA Rk Imo expressed satisfaction over the activities of TRAU in bringing out good number of sportspersons and appealed to continue the good work.
