Imphal, April 10 2022:
Governor La Ganesan has expressed happiness on learning that the Petroleum Conservation Research Association and the entire oil industry under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas will be observing 'Saksham' from April 11-30 .
It may be noted that the main objective of Saksham is to spread the message of conservation of petroleum products which has a direct impact on the growth and economy of the country.
The Governor also dwelt on the negative impacts of consumption of petroleum products stating that it affects the environment by emitting harmful particles in the atmosphere including carbon dioxide, which not only exacerbates global warming but also has an impact on environment degradation.
He further stressed on the significance of conservation of petroleum products as the need of the hour adding that a country like India which depends on imports cannot do away without its consumption at the present level of technology.
As such, the Governor called for the conservation of petroleum products to the maximum extent, by way of optimum use, use of alternate sources of fuel and by putting into practice every possible fuel saving method, be it in transport or domestic or other sectors.
Lastly, he wished the Saksham observation a grand success.
