Imphal, November 09, 2013:
All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) has urged the organisers of Manipur Sangai Festival to hike performance fee for the artistes who are presenting cultural items at the festival.
Saying that participating artistes put in best effort to live up to the expectations of the audience including those coming from other States and countries by rehearsing their respective items repeatedly for many days, the union urged to increase the performance fee for these artistes comparing to last year's festival.
The union also requested the organisers to arrange adequate green rooms and toilet facilities for the artistes.
While appealing not to break the original structure of cultural items while these are presented in composed form, the union urged not to choreograph and clad in provocative ways.
Meanwhile, Organisation for a Better Society (OBS) has urged the organiser of the Manipur Sangai Festival not to restrict movement along Haokip Veng and road leading to Andro parking for the people residing at Mahaballi Kabui Khul and western side of BOAT.
In a press release, the organisation said that people residing at these areas faced lots of inconvenience at the time of emergency as all the roads were blocked for them during last year's festival.
