UNLF 'Major' apprehended

Imphal, July 09 2011: Troops of 18 SIKH regiment arrested one 'Major' of the UNLF and 3 OGWs of the party at about 1 am from Kobwakching yesterday.

The arrested person has been identified as Amom Ibomcha @Jibon @ Achanba (42).On questioning him he accepted that he was an SS Major (Political Wing) of UNLF group and is in charge of Imphal West Area.

Two Tata Indicom Mobile phones were recovered from him, claimed a 18 SIKH regiment statement.

It further said that after checking the messages stored on his phone and on questioning him, the same team rushed to Kobawakching and apprehended two OGWs of UNLF.

They were identified as Takhellambam Shashikanta (30) and Elam Ibomcha (53) .

On their revelation, Bishnupur Police Commandos and the troops launched an operation and nabbed an OGW identified as Elam Mangi (50).One 9mm Pistol, one magazine, 10 rounds of 9mm and 10 rounds of M-16 recovered from the Mangi's house.

The team searched a pond in his home and a jerry can filled with AK-47 rounds which were about 480 in number.

The arrested four along with the recovered items were handed over to the Nambol PS, said the press release.
