Arts 2nd position holder Melody aims to crack UPSC CSE, says teachers her 'true family'

Melody Moirangthem of Thamnapokpi, Moirang AC, who stood second position in Arts in the Class XII examination announced yesterday, is keen on becoming a civil servant.
She scored 439 (87.8%) out of 500 and got letter marks in five subjects.
She studied Class XII at Enlighten Knowledge (EK) Higher Secondary School.
She is second child of Moirangthem Ranabir and Moirangthem Ongbi Thoibi Leima.
She has a brother who is studying in Class IX.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Melody said there were times when she couldn't quench her wants as both her parents are poor cultivators.
Friends and family members especially her uncle and aunt helped her during hard times, she said.
Her teachers, family and friends have big roles in her success.
Her teachers guided her like 'true family members', said a humble Melody giving credit for her hard work to her teachers.
Talking about her future plans and dreams, Melody said she is keen on becoming a civil servant.
"Majority of the students have dreams of becoming successful engineers and doctors, but I have a slightly different goal," Melody said.
"My goal is to crack UPSC Civil Services Examination and become an IAS officer" .
She chose Arts stream because of this dream, she said.
Becoming an IAS officer may be dreams of many students, but this young girl has plans she would do when she become one.
Reflecting on the many issues that are plaguing the State, she said she would improve the law and order situation and carry forward initiatives to make Manipur a better place.
Being a girl from a poor family, she has doubt of ever realising her dream, but acknowledged that hard work and determination are keys to achieving her dream.
Her proud but sad grandmother Moirangthem Ongbi Thambal watches Melody and said all she has is love for her.
"I hope my grand daughter gets all her dreams and wants.
Being poor, I have nothing but love and encouragement, she said and advised Melody to work hard on her dreams.
Melody scored 79.5 percent in Class X examination from LCM High School, Moirang.
