Imphal, April 09 2012: The Film Forum, Manipur has observed the 6th 'Mami Numit-2012' today at MFDC Theatre in honour of film personalities who contributed towards the development of Manipuri film.

Apart from offering garlands to personalities whose contributions are counted by the forum, gifts and mementoes were also presented to film personalities of the State who received awards in the national and international levels.

Among others, the forum has also conferred Manipur Film Best Journalist Award to Columnist Yambem Tombi.

The award carries Rs 5000, shawl and memento.

The observance function was graced by Commissioner of Art and Culture, Dr RK Nimai, Chairman of FFM, and Managing Director of Manipur Film Development Corporation, Dr K Sobita Devi as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Addressing the gatherings, Dr RK Nimai stressed on the need to organise workshops in acting like it has been done in script writing, dance, etc.

He also urged the women to come forward and have a hand in directing films.

Dr K Sobita dwelt on the need to set up film city in the State.

30 film personalities were honoured and felicitated today during the programme.
