AR organises Shakti Sammelan honouring International Women's day

Under the campaign theme for International Women's Day 2021, Shakti Sammelan was organised at Gelnel village of KPI district by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR(E) .
The event started with a lecture by the commander of the Gelnel Post on women empowerment followed by a small medical camp by the post medical staff by distributing medicines of the common ailments.
The event concluded with Shakti Run- a 2 km run to honour the strength and willpower of women of the northeast and to show the solidarity of the Armed Forces with the people of the northeast.
Similiar events on International Women's Day were organised at location of Battalion headquarters, village Akhui and Dikhuram.A total of 200 locals from both genders & all age groups along with soldiers participated in various events held at different posts of 44 Assam Rifles with full vigour and zeal.
Speaking during one of such events held at battalion headquarters, the Commanding Officer 44 Assam Rifles stated that the story of women's struggle for equality doesn't belong to a single feminist or to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.
He commended the women of the northeast in their clearly stronger role in the society, starting from home-making to winning medals in Olympics or serving in the armed forces.
He urged the fairer gender to make International Women's Day their day and asked the population, both men and women, to do what they can to truly make a positive difference for women of the society and ultimately for a strong powerful India.
Meanwhile, Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a talk for women to commemorate the International Women's Day at Chingarel Tejpur Village of Imphal West on yesterday.
Sawombung Company Operating Base (COB) of Mantripukhri Battalion organised an awareness programme for women of Chingarel Tejpur village.
As part of the programme, an interactive lecture was organised for women including students and Meira Paibis.
Total 79 ladies and children attended the programme.The programme was focused towards highlighting the importance of women in today's world and gender equality in the society.
The lecture was followed by an active discussion on success achieved by women in various fields and their immense contribution to the society.
In addition, attendees were also briefed regarding various Government welfare schemes available to them for women empowerment.
The event received overwhelming response from the local populace especially the women.
They also appreciated the continuous efforts and commitment of Assam Rifles in reaching out to the local populace and reaffirming the faith of people in the Assam Rifles.
The International women's day at Chandel with young girls, policewomen, widows and wives of ex-servicemen of the district.
The theme of the event was 'Women as Future Leaders' .
The event was conducted at Chandel Battalion where 175 girls, 05 policewomen and 33 widows and wives of ex-servicemen participated.
The aim of the event was to guide them about their role as leader in the society.
A motivational lecture by a Women officer of Assam Rifles was given and a movie on women in Armed Forces was screened to motivate the young girls.
Assam Rifles Pipe Band display and an interactive session to understand their aspirations was conducted.
The young girls are highly motivated to take up the future leadership role to transform the region.
Grievances of widow's and others were address by the Assam Rifles Battalion.
Chandel Battalion continuously provides support to women from remote localities of Chandel region and has undertaken numerous initiatives including pre recruitment training of girls from various districts of Manipur to join armed forces in which 325 girls are undergoing training, support to All Tribal Naga Women by providing sewing machines & providing material for preparing masks during pandemic, providing employment initiatives and empowering women through skill development courses at Assam Rifles Skill development Centre at Chandel where more than 300 women have been trained in computer hardware, tailoring and beautician course.
Women's Day Celebration was organised by Somsai battalion of Assam Rifles on yesterday to celebrate the spirit and significance of women in every aspect of life.
The event was conducted at Somsai and Awangkasom of Ukhrul district.
The event included a lecture on Women Empowerment by Dr Aguina Nsarangbe, the medical officer of Assam Rifles followed by a health check-up camp for the ladies wherein their blood samples were collected to be screened for basic investigations related to lifestyle diseases.
The women attendees were educated regarding the importance of hygiene & sanitation for maintaining good health.
