Assam Agricultural University VC Dr K M Bujharbaruah today said that the North East is now food-sufficient and in the years to come an agricultural revolution will take place in the region.
"The region has evolved from being food-deficient to food-sufficient and in years to come the agricultural revolution will take place here," Bujharbaruah said while addressing the 40th foundation day celebration of the ICAR, NE Region.
The hilly terraces of NE are now productive in which agriculture along with livestock production has increas- ed the annual income of the farmers.
Soil conservation and water management techniques have made agriculture possible throughout the year, he said.
However, climate change, fatigue soil, water contamination are the new challenges and to overcome these, research should get priority,
