Imphal, August 08 2015 : In the backdrop of the recent flood and landslide which adversely affected Chandel district, a relief committee christened, Tengnoupal Subdivision Landslide Relief Committee (TSLRC), Chandel district was formed during a meeting held on Aug 6 at Phalbung village.

According to a statement, M Mothil Maring, Ds Mophun Maring, L Thangboi Mate and Tiljang Haokip have been appointed as the chairperson, vice-chairperson, general secretary and joint secretary of the committee respectively.

The committee urged the State Govt to construct a motorable alternative roads at places where the roads are cut off by landslides.

The committee said that corporate bodies like banks may also play a big role in bailing the people out of their trouble under the corporate social responsibility schemes.

It further urged the Govt and departments concerned to mobilise relief materials in the form of rice, kerosene, edible oil, sugar, salt, etc or financial assistance to the affected people.
