Swadhar Greh inaugurated

Bishnupur, February 08 2019: A Swadhar Greh Home set up at Maibam Lokpaching, Bishnupur district which targets to provide shelter and support to the women and children victims of different circumstances was inaugurated today.

The newly inaugurated home will be operated by "Women's Income Generation Centre (WIGC) Thoubal" under the supervision of Department of Social Welfare under Ministry of Women & Child Development GoI.

The event was graced by Kaushik Kabya Bhasha Acharya, ex-Panji Shri Shri Govinda Temple Board Imphal Sharatchandra Sharrna as chief guest; social worker Maibam Borajao as president and founder WIGC Thoubal, Indira Oinam as a guest of honour.

Meira paibis and club volunteers of the area also attended the event among others.

Speaking at the event, Indira Oinam stated that the Home (Swadhar Greh) will provide shelter to destitute women, widows and children of Bishnupur district and also conduct several training programmes so that they could live a dignified life.

Beside having a capacity to provide shelter to about 30 women at a time, it also has a facility to support nearly 15-20 children in their studies, she said and appealed all to extend their helping hand for a smooth functioning of the home.
