CAU releases calendar, lays down university's achievements in last five years

Vice Chancellor of CAU Imphal M Premjit has conveyed that the university focuses not only on the academic prospect of the students but is also striving for an all round development.
He was speaking at the wall/table calendar of CAU Imphal and Kisan diary releasing function at CAU Lamphelpat yesterday, which was a part of the press conference held to celebrate the five year achievement of the university.
M Premjit said that Central Agricultural University was established in 1993 and seven constituent colleges were formed under the university when it completed 22 years.
Maintaining that six new constituent colleges were established under CAU in the past five years, he added that a total of 13 colleges makes CAU with the highest number of colleges as compared to other 75 agriculture universities.
Premjit further stated that it is imperative to focus on how to transform the unemployed youth from job seekers to job creators/job providers which is achievable through skill development.
In view of this very objective, CAU has also established six different vocational training centre in the last five years, he added.
The vocational training centre in Manipur is opened at CAU Iroisemba which covers accommodation of trainees apart from the availability of animal shed, pond etc.
Moreover, six Multi Technology Testing Centres have been set up as well, the VC added.
He further narrated that three new KVKs were formed in addition to the existing three KVKs under CAU while the students intake capacity has increased from 675 (five years before) to 935 in 2019-20 for UG, PG & PHD.
Meanwhile, students from 23 States are studying at the university along with 15 foreign students, he added.
Many girl students are taking interest and opting Agriculture as compared to previous times which led to a total of 57 percent girl students in the university, the VC conveyed while lauding the students for their excellent performances.
