Thoubal, January 08 2019: District Administration Thoubal under the theme 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' organised a cross country race for girls under 17 today.

The cross country race encouraging girl child was flagged off by Education Minister Th Radheshyam from Thoubal Municipal Office complex at Thoubal Wangmataba.

The race culminated at District Sports Complex, Wangjing Kodompokpi, Thoubal.

As part of the event, District Administration Thoubal and DRDA Thoubal presented bicycles to 56 girls (BPL) under MsDP Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) .

Speaking at the event, Radheshyam called for collective efforts of all to protect girl child.

He encouraged officers of every department in the district to work at their best capacity to protect and empower girl child and women.

MLA Brojen who attended the event said that the BJP led Government in the Centre and the State are working towards empowering and encouraging girl child.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal H Rosita, Thoubal Zilla Parishad Adakshya Hasina Begum, SP Thoubal S Gautum, staffs of District Youth Affairs & Sports Thoubal, NYK Thoubal and DRDA Thoubal attended the event.

Dignitaries at the event released a CD on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and feted the winners and participants of the cross country race.
