Dimapur, July 07 2015 :
In an interesting development, the Nagaland Government's Parliamentary Working Committee of the newly christened Nagaland Legislators' Forum on Naga Political Issue on Sunday decided to "request" the Naga Hoho and the Eastern Naga Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) to go and meet the NSCN-K supremo, SS Khaplang and convey "the desire" of the Committee "as well as of the State Government and the people of Nagaland" for resumption of ceasefire between the outfit and the Government of India.
According to a press release received here, the decision to send the Naga Hoho and the ENPO representatives on an errand on behalf of the elected representatives and "the people of Nagaland" was taken during a meeting of the Committee members on Monday at the conference hall of the Assembly Secretariat.
Monday's meeting, it informed, was the first of its kind since the Committee was formed.
The statement, quite curiously did not provide any explanation or reasoning on why the Committee of elected legislators had decided to delegate the Naga Hoho and the ENPO to speak on behalf of the people as well as of the State Government.
The Committee, according to the press release, resolved to send a delegation of its members to meet the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister as well as the Interlocutor to Naga peace talks and convey the "need for peaceful atmosphere by having ceasefire with all groups" and to solve the Naga political issue at the earliest.
