Joyous praise and worship marks Easter celebration in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, April 07 2015 : As opposed to Good Friday which mourned the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, strings of joyous praise and worship marked the Easter Sunday observance in Ukhrul town as Churches of different denominations celebrated the joy of resurrection of the Lord.

Members of major Churches in Town like UBC, PBC, UTBC were largely attended in the morning services known as 'Sunrise worship' at 6 am where the believers rose in praise and worship of the resurrected Lord which reverberated the crowded halls.

However, many churches had to cancel their worship service scheduled to be held at their respective cemeteries owing to inclement weather and held the services at the Church premises instead.

As part of the joyous celebration, pastors of the churches enlightened the congregation about the story of Easter apart from partaking of the Holy Communion.

According to Christians', Holy Scriptures Easter signifies the Lord's coming back to life, or raising from the dead, three days after his death on the cross.

Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the price for mankind's transgression, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.

As traditional practice most families had hearty meals with near and dear ones while some churches in smaller localities organized Easter feasts to celebrate the Lord's triumph over death.
