5th Singju Festival ends

The 5th Singju Festival at District Sports Complex (Kodompokpi Ground), Thoubal has ended today.
The festival organised by Singju Yokhat Lup (SYOL) with the aim to promote indigenous food saw many colourful events including Miss Singju Queen contest.
Lemai Daili Daisy won the Miss Singju Queen title with Neihoiching Chongloi and Valentina Wahengbam winning the first and second runners up titles.
Singju Festival Brand Ambassador model Diana Mayanglambam crowned Daisy and presented prize money of Rs 50,000.The first runner up and second runner up titles carries award of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

16 contestants took part in the contest.
The closing event of the festival today was attended by Republican Party of India (Athawale) North East India general secretary Mahesh Thounaojam, Singju Festival Committee chairman Khangembam Priyojit Meitei, Art and Culture Asst Director Irom (O) Chitra Devi, Inspiration for Creativity and Spirituality (ICS) Boarding founder Huidrom Sureshkumar Singh and Kangleipak Loinasillol Apunba Marup (KLAM) president Thiyam (O) Silleima Leima as dignitaries.
About 100 stalls were opened during the festival organised under the theme "Save Our Indigenous Food, Culture and Integrity" by SYOL in association with Wangjing United Club.
The festival started from December 28 last year saw cultural events, folk song, folk dance, indigenous sports, musical concert, children's spot painting, speech and dance competitions.
Meet the star and Personalities, legal awareness programmes, Nokphade, writers' meet, tree plantation, mega blood donation camp, free health camp, symposium on medicinal plants and many other events also marked the festival.
