Imphal, May 06 2015 :
There is a strong discontent among party leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh over allocation of party tickets regarding upcoming ADC elections.
It is said that many BJP leaders are unhappy about the way State unit president Th Chaoba had managed the affairs of ticket distribution with the help of three general secretaries of the party.
The State Election Committee of BJP Manipur Pradesh has 15 members including State unit president Th Chaoba.
The committee also has a general secretary (administration), general secretary (organisation) and a media cell and BJP National executive member Tapir Gao is the Central election observer.
According to a source, there is a strong suspicion of involvement of corruption in ticket distribution as many dedicated and old party workers were left out.
Many workers, who came to Imphal from interior areas after getting information of their inclusion in the list, were found replaced by other persons in the new list.
Such instance has created distrust among the leaders of the State unit, added the source.
Talking to The Sangai Express, former BJP Manipur Pradesh president and State Election Committee member Dr H Borbabu said that the first meeting of the State Election Committee was held on April 9 .
The meeting discussed the matter of the Constituencies, which had single applicant and the matter of fielding women candidates, he said.
Although, the election committee decided to discuss the matter of other Constituencies in the next meeting, Th Chaoba in connivance with three general secretaries of the State unit hurriedly announced the names of party candidates without taking the consent of the committee, Borbabu said.
Even the consent of Central observer Tapir Gao was not taken before the announcement of the final list, Borbabu said.
Regarding the matter, Tapir Gao personally expressed dissatisfaction to party leaders before he left Imphal, Borbabu said.
Former president and election committee member Sh Shantikumar said that during the first meeting of the election committee, Tapir Gao advised the committee to settle the issues of the Constituencies, which had more than one applicant.
He said that the committee had never given a final list of candidates to the State unit president.
However, taking advantage of Tapir Gao's absence, Th Chaoba in connivance with three general secretaries hurriedly announced the final list, he said.
And there were many errors in the final list, Shantikumar said.
The list of probable candidates which was prepared after having a discussion with the district observers was not similar with the list which was produced before the State Election Committee, Shantikumar said.
It is really embarrassing in front of other parties as such a rift and distrust have cropped up among party leaders after the final list was announced without taking the consents of the election committee and Central election observer.
