Imphal, November 05 2019:
Congress MLA Khumukcham Joy-kisan has said that it is crucial for all the 60 MLAs of the State to take unambiguous positions on the issues of Naga solution and the CAB.
Speaking to media persons at his residence at Khoyathong today, Joy-kisan said that if the MLAs of Manipur want to save the indigenous people, then a special Assembly session before November 18 is very much crucial so that the 60 MLAs can discuss in the House all the necessary measures and approaches that must be adopted to protect the people of Manipur from CAB.
Just because a few individuals project CAB in the positive light does not mean the people will accept it.
CAB is aimed at destroying the indigenous people.
The entire North East people are against it, the MLA claimed.
Coming to the integrity of Manipur, Joykisan said that the Chief Minister constantly shouts that the there will be no harm to the integrity of the State.
Asking if saving the integrity of Manipur is the only aim of BJP and the CM, the MLA questioned whether the BJP and the CM will remain silent if the territorial integrity of Manipur is not compromised but greater autonomy is granted.
The people will not accept such arrangements under any condition, he added.
He continued that some news report mentioned about the CM's assurance to COCOMI to convene an Assembly session and appealed to the Government to deliver on its promise and convene the Assembly session at the earliest.
Joykisan said that people are protesting in all corners of the State demanding peace and tranquillity and status quo to the integrity of Manipur and opined that if the 60 MLAs cannot do anything to please the people, they are not fit to remain as elected representatives.
It is high time for the elected Members to stand together and face the alarming issues plaguing Manipur, he added.
He conveyed that the Parliamentary session will begin from November 18 and raised suspicion that the dreaded CAB might be brought up during the session.
The MLA further lamented that the various CSOs based in Manipur are trying hard to improve the bond between the hills and the valley as evidenced by various festivals such as Ching-Tam Ningol Chakkouba event, but the Government of India is playing divide and rule policy by creating rifts between the two.
