Wildlife Week 2024 celebrated at Chandel and Kakching

Chandel Forest Division and the Divisional Forest Officer of Thoubal under Thoubal Forest Division organised a cycle and mass rally respectively as part of the week-long celebration of 70th Wildlife Week 2024 under the theme "Wildlife Conservation Through CoExistence".
At Chandel, a cycle rally was flagged off from Pallel under the supervision of DFO Chandel Abhijit KV IFS today.
The rally culminated at the office of the Beat Officer, Komlathabi, Chandel Forest Division.
The cycle rally aimed at raising awareness about wildlife conservation and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Around 50 cyclists representing various institutions, youth clubs and schools partook in the rally to show their support towards preserving the country's natural heritage.
Range Forest Officer K Pawankumar Sharma of Chandel Range along with his team and staff from Chandel Forest Division took part in today's event.
Meanwhile, M Rameshwar, MLA of Kakching AC flagged off a mass rally from Kakching Bazar to the Range Office at Kakching Lamkhai today.
The participants of the rally raised slogans focusing on the protection of wildlife, hills, rivers and other resources.
In this connection, Laishram Dinesh, Range Officer Kakching said that Wildlife Week is observed to make people understand and spread awareness about the need to protect wild animals, hills, rivers etc.
He said today's rally was organised with the sole aim to raise awareness about safeguarding the wild animals inhabiting in wetlands like Loushi Pat, Ekop Pat, Kharungpat, Khoidum Pat and Pumlen Pat in Thoubal and Kakching district, under the jurisdiction of the Thoubal Forest Division.
Ningthoujam Deepa, Range Officer Headquarters; Dineshchandra Salam, RO Thoubal, official staff from Thoubal Forest Division and civil society organizations, clubs and people from both Thoubal and Kakching districts participated in the rally.
Notably, the 70th Wildlife Week Celebration is being observed across the nation from October 2 to 8 .
