25 inmates of rehab test COVID-19 positive, panic locals protested

Kakching, October 05 2020: 25 inmates of a drug de-addiction centre at Kakching Makha Leikai have been tested Covid positve.

Hearing the news people of the locality started panicking as the centre was located in a crowded locality.

Womenfolks of the locality protested demanding to shift the inmates and the staff of the centre to a Covid Care Centre.

The Police came and controlled the mob.

Later, the District Administration calmed the angry mob by telling them that the inmates and the staff of the centre will be shifted to a proper care centre by tommorrow and in the meanwhile police personnel will be deployed there.

According to a source, at first an inmate of the centre was ill and during Covid test he tested positive.

Following which, 37 people which included all the inmates and the staff of the centre were tested on October 3.The samples were sent to RIMS for VRDL and the result was recieved yesterday confirming 21 positive cases at the centre.

Four persons whose result came out negative in the test result recieved yesterday when re-tested the result came out positive.

So out of the 37 people, 25 positive cases were reported.
