5th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival from January 18

Imphal, January 05 2020: The 5th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival is scheduled to start from January 18 to 24 at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy auditorium.

Speaking to media persons at The Hot-Pot Family Restaurant, Wangkhei Keithel Asangbi, Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust chairman RK Nimai said that the festival will witness many cultural events.

The festival will see many plays by different theatre groups.

Bhanubil Majhergaon Drama Party, Bangladesh will perform the play "Khainaba Yaroi" directed by Leichombam Rajkumar on the opening day.

The second day will witness "Makhoisu Jibani Thamoi Panli" of Akhoka (Khabam Chumbrei Thong) directed by Victor Thoudam, he said.

Other groups including Leikol Manipuri Cultural Organisation, Tripura, Kanglei Living Arts (Kangla) Uchiwa, Creative Living Art Research Centre, Langmeidong, Rongduli Sanskritik Kendra, Tinsukia (Assam) and Manipur Theatre Academy (MATA) will also perform various plays, he added.

Khundongbam Brojendro was born in 1946 and died in 2007.He wrote about 40 plays during his lifetime and produced many radio and Shumang Leelas, said Nimai.
